The Eden Valley Mountaineering Club is based in the Penrith area but has members who live as far away as the west coast, Cockermouth, Keswick and Carlisle. There are currently around 100 members and a wide variety of outdoor sports is represented amongst their interests. If you climb, walk, run, fell run, ski, kayak, cave, sail or cycle you will find someone with a common interest within the club although mountain based activities tend to predominate.

The club arranges a series of local rock climbing meets during the summer months and club members also arrange trips to other areas in Britain and abroad.

There is also a programme of walks with meetings throughout the year.

The club produces a newsletter and a membership card which contains members' phone numbers and meets lists. Production of this card will result in discount at Needlesports in Keswick and Penrith Outdoor Pursuits in Penrith. The club is affiliated to the BMC.

One way of meeting club members is to go to the Agricultural Hotel near the station in Penrith from around 9.30pm on Thursday evenings during the winter months. The Eden Climbing Wall is another place you will find club members. This wall is found at the Penrith swimming pool.
